Really... It's Dark Already???

Today's run didn't go quite as expected. lol

I messed around this evening and spent far too much time organizing my large hoard of jewelry and cosmetics (it's a weekly occurrence so that my many goodies don't get too out of hand) and lost track of time!  By the time I realized what time it was I only had 20 mins until dark....

I got ready to run in record time and set out on my normal course around the neighborhood.  After about 10 mins of running, I knew I was running out of light - QUICK!  Here's the thing, I'm not super scared of the dark, but I don't enjoy it... and in order to make the 3 mile journey around the neighborhood I have to venture a couple blocks into the not-so-good side of the tracks.  Once I got to a good turning around point I had to come up with a short cut so that I could make it home before it got too dark.

Though I didn't go the whole 3 miles, I did manage to squeeze in 1.65 miles and did it in good time!  I know in the future I need to be more aware that it's getting darker sooner so I don't run into these problems again!

But... I am proud of myself for this reason - I could've just looked at the time, and looked outside, and said "Hmm... It's getting dark, maybe I'll just skip tonight's run."  Instead I laced up my shoes and took off, knowing that running just a little bit was better than not running at all! :)

If you've been keeping up with my posts leave me a little comment... bits of encouragement go a long way!!

  1. Better safe than sorry! You made the right decision and you can just make sure you leave earlier next time and also the time will be changing November 7th so it will be getting darker even earlier. You did good going 1.65 miles on the verge of darkness. Keep it up sweetie <3

  2. Thanks Mrs. Denise! :) I'm all about the "better safe than sorry" route! :) Don't want to end up all alone in the dark! I can't believe how much the early darkness messes with me, hopefully I'll get adjusted soon!
